I did some shopping online at BN.com last week and received my order today! (I also did a Target impulse buy because of all the good things I've heard about Landline by Rainbow Rowell).
I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai and Christina Lamb
I am severely slacking on my Book Club book this month having just now bought it, but I wanted to get the hard copy so I could grab some pictures.
I love the cover of this one because it just draws your eye immediately. Also, I think the hot pink Hijab is rad because it's very feminine without apologies, which I imagine is probably a lot like Malala Yousafzai.
I have been wanting to check out an adult (grown-up?) coloring book for a while now. I had one on my to-buy list a couple of months ago but didn't get around to buying it.
This coloring book was number 2 on Barnes and Noble's Top 100 last week so I figured I needed it. The cover is gorgeous with gold foil and intricate floral designs.
Inside the book you see the same floral designs, but it also has a find the creature type activity where they have hidden different creatures throughout the intricate drawings for you to find.
This book has been on my list for a while. When it came up on Barnes and Noble's buy 2 get one free sale, I had to have it.
I love how the cover is very retro-gaming. Basically the book is about a video game billionaire died and left his fortune to whoever wins his competition, but some players will kill to win. An added bonus is a movie deal is already in the works and Steven Spielberg is already slated as the director.
Red Rising and Golden Son by Pierce Brown
I have been eyeballing this intergalactic post apocalyptic dystopian series for a while. It is part of the buy two get one free deal from Barnes and Noble. There are three books in the series, but I thought I would start out with the first two and buy the third later (once I'm really hooked!).
Red Rising is about a kid, Darrow, who is a Red (which are basically slave labor) that disguises himself as a Gold (the hierarchy living successfully on Mars) in order to realign the balance of equality among all of the races.
In Golden Son, Darrow has successfully infiltrated the Golds and continues to manipulate the system from the inside without anyone knowing who he really is.
I am excited about this trilogy because of the great reviews as well as the subject matter. I have been very interested in Sci-Fi lately, and since these books take place on Mars they're just my style.
Landline by Rainbow Rowell
I picked up Landline because I was at Target looking for one of the books that were on the list for next month's book club. They did have The Good Girl by Mary Kubica, but the back cover was scrunched and I couldn't bring myself to buy it.
I was slow to pick up Landline initially because it's about a woman in a failing marriage and those books make me crazy sad. However, from everything I've seen, it's supposed to be an epic love story so I thought I would give it a chance. It's about a woman that finds out her phone can call back in time to when her and her husband were still crazy about each other. I loved the last Rainbow Rowell book that I read so I have high hopes for this one.
Here are some pictures of the book photo shoot I did for this post. It was pretty fun finding new locations for photo backgrounds.
